Alaska Premier
Sportfishing welcomes you to spectacular Homer, Alaska. Two hundred
and twenty road miles south of Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, lies
the community of Homer. A scenic four hour drive, or 45 minute flight, and
the halibut fishing trip of a lifetime awaits.
The fishing vessel Venturess provides you the ultimate in
Sportfishing. Powered by twin diesels it is both safe and reliable, with a
cruising range of nearly three thousand miles. State of the art safety
equipment includes, self inflating life rafts, emergency locating beacon,
sat phone, dual VHF’s, SSB, dual GPS chart plotters, radar, and a fixed
firefighting unit in the engine room. Measuring sixty five feet with a beam
of twenty feet the Venturess is also the largest and most comfortable vessel
in the fleet. Wide walk around decks, a fully covered aft deck to get out of
inclement weather, and a five ton fish hold make the Venturess the ultimate
Sport fisher. Cabin amenities include six staterooms that sleep
fourteen in comfort. Five heads (marine toilets), three showers, washer and
dryer, Jenn air range, Sigmar range, refrigerator, two freezers, TV/VCR/DVD,
CD, and coffee maker to name a few.
 On the way out to
the fishing grounds, sometimes fifty miles away, keep watch for whales,
sea otters, puffins and various other sea life that abounds in Cook Inlet.
When you reach the fishing area you will be given proper instructions on
how to use the tackle, and land a halibut. It is not uncommon to catch ten
halibut per person on an average day. The size of the halibut vary greatly
day to day, but the average size is twenty five to thirty pounds. Large
halibut, one hundred pounds or more are also caught quite frequently, one
every other day on average. Multiple species of fish are also caught while
halibut fishing, Ling cod, Yelloweye rockfish, Black rockfish, Pacific
cod, and occasionally a salmon. The typical charter lasts eight to twelve
hours depending on the cooperation of the halibut!
 The return trip to
Homer allows you one last chance to watch for sea life and to gaze at the
towering Mountains, although most people are sleeping within minutes of
leaving the fishing grounds. At the end of the day the halibut will be
hung up for photographs. Filleting of the halibut is free and local
processors are available to vacuum seal it so it lasts well into winter.
Shipping is handled via Fed Ex, unless you have extra baggage space
available.
Alaska Premier Sportfishing works hard to provide you with the best
quality halibut fishing gear, equipment and service that is possible to
